He is the author of around a hundred books, most of them essays, among them: <em>Mazmorras que han hecho historia, El libro negro de la historia de Espa\u00f1a, Enclaves m\u00e1gicos de Espa\u00f1a, A trav\u00e9s de la Espa\u00f1a oculta, Matarra\u00f1a ins\u00f3lita, Historia del azafr\u00e1n: la flor del amanecer, Las sombras del terror, La otra historia de Espa\u00f1a<\/em>, etc. With the work <em>Senderos hist\u00f3ricos de Andaluc\u00eda<\/em>was awarded first prize for Best Cultural Documentary at the Monte Carlo Film Festival. Jes\u00fas \u00c1vila is also the author of several Encyclopaedias, such as Rutas de Espa\u00f1a y Enciclopedia del aceite de oliva, published by Planeta. And three historical novels: La profec\u00eda del laurel, El \u00faltimo hereje y La sombra del cardenal, all related to the history of mankind, from ancient times to the Renaissance. Jes\u00fas \u00c1vila is considered one of the world's leading experts on the history of the Temple and Catharism. He has given conferences and organised congresses, as well as all kinds of events related to those topics of his speciality. His works La mitolog\u00eda templaria, La mitolog\u00eda c\u00e1tara, Mitolog\u00eda c\u00e9ltica, La herej\u00eda c\u00e1tara, Templarios en las Tierras del Ebro o Catalu\u00f1a c\u00e1tara have become reference works, translated into numerous languages.
